Shopping in Watford

The primary shopping area is the Harlequin Shopping Centre, a large purpose-built indoor mall with over 140 shops, restaurants and cafes built during the 1990s, opened officially in June 1992. The owners of the shopping centre, Capital Shopping Centres, rebranded all their shopping centres, resulting in The Harlequin changing name to intu Watford Shopping Centre from May 2013.

Watford is a major retail centre for the home counties and home to the head offices of major companies like JD Wetherspoon, Mothercare and the Camelot Group.The Harlequin is the main shopping mall with John Lewis, Jane Norman, French Connection Outlet, Monsoon and separate Accessorize in addition to Accessorize in the Monsoon, River Island, Anne Summers, La Senza, Zara, WHSmith (post office at the back), Pineapple, Lush and many other shops. There is also New Look, Topshop (incTopman), Computer Exchange, The End and Next to Choice (a Next outlet) on the High Street.
