Watford supermarket car park closed after ‘lorry crash’

The Odhams Trading Estate supermarket, by the Dome roundabout, has confirmed that a heavy goods vehicle hit an overhead sign in the two-storey section of one of its car parks this morning (December 18).

A team has been called out to remove the signage, but Asda was unable to give a timescale for when it will be able to reopen.

“One of the two car parks at our Watford superstore is currently closed whilst repairs take place to some damaged signage,” a spokesperson said.

“Our fantastic colleagues are on hand to direct customers to the open car park to ensure they can continue shopping with us as usual.”

One shopper said she normally parks in the closed section, as it has several disabled spaces, but was told it was inaccessible due to a lorry crash when she visited at around 11am.

Eventually she had to go to Sainsbury’s instead because parking was “absolutely manic”, with no spaces of any kind available elsewhere at the supermarket.

Another resident, who claimed she was asked to remove her car from the underground car park at around 10am, described the situation as “mayhem”.
