The Apprentice 2022: Who was fired and what happened in episode 2?

The first episode of The Apprentice was watched by 4.6 million people, making it the show’s most popular launch since 2017.

The second episode saw 15 candidates battle it out to win over Lord Alan Sugar and his aides, Baroness Karen Brady and first-ever The Apprentice winner Tim Campbell.

The candidates are in for a winning prize of a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.

Last week, former pharmacy manager Harry Mahmood, 35, was first to be fired.

What happened in episode two?

This week, the candidates were asked to market a brand-new electric toothbrush for children aged between six and eight.

They met at the Eastman Dental Institute at University College London and were tasked by an animated Lord Sugar Fairy to create a new app to encourage kids to brush their teeth.

Both teams had to pitch their ideas to two major buyers.

The girls’ team project manager was business owner Francesca from Surrey and operations instructor Aaron, from Lancashire, led the boys.

Francesca’s team chose an intergalactic theme for their toothbrush called ‘Brushing Star’.

However, after half the team revealed their packaging, there were concerns that the design was too young and would not suit the target audience.

Some of the girls’ team were also not impressed with the app, which was a planet design with a tooth character.

The boys hoped that their magical design would win over the buyers and Lord Sugar.

Aaron’s design team chose a brown wand design, which other team members said looked like a log.

Wiffy the Wizard was the character for the boys’ app.

Neither team impressed the buyers or the focus group of children, but the boys ultimately lost out.

One of the buyers told the boys that the wand looked like a ‘turd’.

In the boardroom, it was revealed that the girls got a total of 11,000 orders for their toothbrush and app.

They were sent to a posh afternoon tea in Chelsea as a treat from Lord Sugar.

The boys didn’t get a single order and were sent to the Bridge Cafe once again.

Who was fired?

Left in the boardroom were Aaron, Nicholas and Conor.

“What really shocks me is the lack of common sense. They were deluded,” said Karen to Lord Sugar about the task.

After a few moments of arguing and passing the blame between the boys, Lord Sugar intervened.

“I’m going to conclude that Conor, you’re fired.”

Lord Sugar made Nicholas the project manager for the next task as a chance to prove himself.

“Aaron, he should’ve gone home,” said Conor in the black cab after being fired.

“It’s a tough one to take, but I had plenty of setbacks from my rugby career and this is the first major one in my new career. I’ll bounce back from it.”
