Convenience store looks set to open in high street

Kings Langley Village Store has applied for a premises licence to open in the former Laines and Company unit after the popular clothing business moved to a smaller site in the high street.

According to application documents, the new store will sell alcohol, soft drinks, confectionery, frozen and chilled foods, tobacco products and ice cream.

The unit is a 500 square metre premises and is near a Boots and other outlets including a bakery and coffee shop.

Opening hours would be from 7am until 10pm seven days a week, with an alcohol licence also being sought for the same hours.

Documents do not specify when the new store is planning to open.

Laines moved out in April, citing rising business rates and the controversial parking charges that have since been subject to a partial U-turn.

The clothes shop reopened weeks later in its new home at the other end of the high street, taking over the former Belles & Beaus beauty salon unit.
